identification of a fossil

Dear Sirs. My daughter and I came to your coast fossil hunting this year.We found many excellent fossils and with the help of various books managed to identify all but one. This was different from the others in that it was in a solid red rock, and the impression seems to have come from the inside of the shell.the radiating lines resembled those of a nautillus. Also in the entrance to this shell there is a distinctive red crystal structure with visible tentacles, which I assume was the creatures body.Could you give me more info on what sort of rock this could be and would it be possible to identify the fossil. We found it under golden cap.Cali Holberry Cambridge. 2008
